Bob Jones cross-country fundraiser – Cotton Row Run winners
The Bob Jones cross-country is currently raising funds for the 24-hour relay that will be held at the track behind Bob Jones High School on July 26-27. The event is similar to a walk-a-thon and will feature more than 50 cross-country team members running for a full 24-hour period – rain or shine. The event will begin with the entire team running together at 6 p.m. on July 26 and will end at 6 p.m. on July 27. Interested parties can call Barry Wilson at 721-1888 for more information about the event.
The team and parents assisted the Huntsville Track Club with the finish line activities at the recent Cotton Row Run in Huntsville. More than 30 runners pulled numbers at the finish line and removed the electronic chips from the runner's shoes. Bob Jones runners also participated in the Cotton Row Run and won first place in three age categories.
Jackson Wilson won the 5-K event for the 14-16 male age group. Jackson is a member of the team and was 15th overall for the 5-K race. Katherine Herring won the 5-K event for the 14-16 female age group. She will be a senior this fall and is a member of the team. Emry McKay came in second for the 5-K event for the 17-19 female age group. She will be a senior this fall and is a member of the team. Mark Ullom was the overall 5-K winner. He graduated from Bob Jones in May and will be attending The University of Alabama in Huntsville on an athletic scholarship this fall. He was a member of the team in 2001.
