Little more than half way through the year, 2002 has been pretty exciting for me.
First and foremost, our family welcomed the newest addition to the Brady Bunch, Kyle Michael, on June 25. My precious nephew is the son of Mike Jr. and Marla Brady, my brother and sister-in-law, and the brother of my niece Carly.
Hopefully by the time you read this, Kyle will be at home with his daddy, mommy and little sister.
Kyle spent the first few days of his life in the neonatal intensive care at Huntsville Hospital. His little lungs weren't quite ready for the world yet, but he's getting bigger and stronger every day now.
Our family is so appreciative for the prayers and love sent Kyle's way during his recovery from all of our family and friends.
To be so new and so small, he is already so loved.
Another exciting event for me is, of course, my upcoming wedding.
Things are falling into place as Oct. 19 draws closer. John and I spend many evenings now discussing honeymoon plans, where to have the rehearsal dinner, and who needs to do what and when.
Our families are playing big parts in the wedding. My brother, Mike Jr., will walk me down the aisle, Carly will be the flower girl, Marla is planning a bridal shower, and his brother Bob will be the best man.
With their help, I'm sure our wedding will actually be the best day of our lives.
This year has also been a time to revel in the happiness and good fortune of my friends.
Colleen is graduating from Athens State University in August. A trip to Florida in a few weeks with her friends will commemorate the event. She will also be an aunt to two new nieces or nephews by the end of the year.
Danielle is living on her own again, searching for the perfect career, and sharing her life with a beautiful person.
Priscilla divorced and is living on her own for the very first time. She is attending massage therapy school, a long-time dream of hers, and has a fabulous new apartment and attitude.
We are so close that what happens to one of us truly happens to all of us.
That's why I know they'll be glad to hear my good news.
Starting this week, I'll be splitting my work time between the Madison County Record and our sister paper, the Hartselle Enquirer.
While I've grown to know and love Madison, I am certainly excited about expanding my horizons to Hartselle.
It will be weird being the new kid on the block yet again, figuring out who's who and what's what, but tackling the unknown is the best part of being a reporter.
I'll be concentrating mainly on feature stories now, which I love, for both papers.
Like I said, 2002 has proved to be pretty exciting so far-and it just keeps getting better.
