A Madison business has been nationally recognized as a top government supplier.
Long's Machine Shop Inc. has been honored by the Defense Supply Center Richmond as one of the government's best suppliers at an Automated Best Value System award ceremony held in June.
Michael and Stephanie Long accepted the gold medal from the commander of the supply center, Air Force Brig. Gen. James P. Totsch.
The firm supplies military and aerospace hardware to the Department of Defense and other government agencies.
"This award means a lot to our firm, it shows our dedication to produce and deliver on time the highest quality parts and assemblies, Michael Long, the firm's owner, said.
Firms that qualify as Automated Best Value System medallist have met stringent quality and delivery requirements. The supply center, located in Richmond, Va., purchases nearly 900,000 items used by the military and other government agencies. These items include a mix of military-unique and commercially available items supporting more than 1,300 major weapons systems.
The value of the products and services it provides its customers exceeds $2 billion annually.
