Pebblebrook fire ruled accidental

By Staff
The Aug. 16 fire at a home located in the Pebblebrook subdivision at Wall-Triana Highway and Gooch Lane has been ruled accidental.
All units of the Madison Fire Department were called to the scene of a fire in the home of William Hattaway at 231 Pebblebrook Dr. Investigator Cary Sadler said while the cause of the fire has been ruled accidental, an electrical malfunction in the garage area may have caused the blaze.
Battalion Chief Jeff Birdwell said a majority of the fire was contained to the garage area of the home with only two to three feet of the living area affected. There was smoke damage throughout the interior of the home.
"We are very pleased with the way we were able to contain the fire and preventing it from spreading throughout the home," Birdwell said. "Portions of the attic area was damaged and all of the garage area was destroyed.
Sadler said an automobile and a small boat located in the garage were destroyed. There were no injuries and the American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the family.
