Calhoun announces record enrollment
Calhoun Community College has the largest fall semester enrollment in the school's history – at 8,460 students. The number represents an increase of more than 200 students over last year's enrollment figure. Of the students taking classes at Calhoun this fall, 5,072 are enrolled at the Decatur campus; 2,497 are taking evening and weekend classes at the college's Huntsville/Cummings Research Park site; and 589 are in classes taught at the Redstone Arsenal extension; and 302 inmates are enrolled in certificate/vocational courses provided through the college's program at Limestone Correctional Facility.
Calhoun announces writers' workshop
Calhoun Community College and the Calhoun Foundation will host a writers' workshop from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, in the Aerospace Training Center on the Decatur campus. The workshop will include three tracks of six sessions and optional one-on-one critique sessions and a writing contest.
The workshop has a $75 registration fee, which includes choice of sessions, continental breakfast and lunch. There is an optional $20 critique fee and a $15 optional writing contest fee. Registration and payment must be received by Oct. 10. Madison County residents earn UAB degrees
Several Madison and Madison County residents were among the 622 students who received bachelor's or graduate degrees or certificates during the summer 2002 quarter at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. Receiving an education specialist degree were Theresia J. Mullen of Harvest; Sally E. Bruer of Madison. Receiving a master's degree were Tim L. Brooks of Harvest; Syrita S. Oneal of Madison; Receiving a bachelor's degree were Jeffrey F. Cowley of Harvest, William A. Boles and Deepa Panjeti, both of Madison.
Vicki J. Pak, was named to the UAB summer honors list for the summer 2002 term.
