AmSouth Bank, Leigh Gonterman Christian, has been named the 2002 Madison Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year.
Christian, vice president/group sales manager at AmSouth Bank, was among seven Madison business nominees announced at chamber's monthly luncheon held at Holiday Inn. WAAY-TV 31 morning anchorman Greg Screws served as the master of ceremonies. The other six business nominees were Brock Jewelers/Sherman Brock; Falciani Machine/James and Jasalyn Falciani; Dr. John Walters, optometrist; Whitworth Realty/Liz McCutcheon; Driving 2000/Keith Graham; and Primrose School of Madison/Ray Bellenfant.
AmSouth Bank has been serving Madison for more than 20 years with two locations on Hughes Road and U.S. Highway 72 with more than 20 employees at both branches.
Christian currently serves on the board of the Madison Chamber of Commerce and is president-elect for 2003. She served as president in 2000. She serves as the chair of membership and orientation and received the Chairman's Performance Award at AmSouth two years. She is also a member of several local and civic organizations in the Madison and Madison County area.
Brock Jewelers has been located in Madison since 1994. Falciani Machine has been located in Madison since 2000. Dr. John Walters opened his private practice in Madison in 1985. Liz McCutcheon has worked at Whitworth Realty since 1990. Driving 2000 opened its doors for business in Madison in 1999 and a second location in Huntsville in 2002. Primrose School of Madison was established in 1997.
The chamber also recognized Christian as its Volunteer of theYear for 2002.
