The city of Madison has been designated as a 2002 Groundwater Guardian Community by The Groundwater Foundation.
Groundwater Guardian is designed to encourage citizen involvement in groundwater protection at the local level. The Groundwater Foundation awarded Groundwater Guardian designation to nearly 150 communities in 34 states and one Canadian province in 2002. Madison will be nationally recognized along with the other communities for its work on behalf of groundwater at the National Groundwater Guardian Designation Ceremony on Nov. 17-20 in Eugene, Ore.
