If you are interested in the daily operations of the Madison Police Department, a citizen's police academy will be offered this month.
Applications are now being taken for the Madison Citizens Police Academy that will be held on Jan. 16 through Feb. 7. The classes will be taught each Thursday night from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall on Hughes Road. A free session will be available from 6 to 10 p.m. as well and CPR certification will be offered.
There is no cost for the citizen's police academy and registration will be held through Jan. 10.
This will be the third year the academy has been held. During the session, a tour of the 911 Center will be offered. Other parts of the session will include all tactics and patrol functions, SRT and canine demonstrations, DARE and D.O.N.T. demonstrations, criminal investigations, crime scene and evidence, vice and narcotics and domestic violence cases.
The academy will be open to individuals over 21 years of age who work or reside in the city of Madison.
Applications may be picked up at the Madison Police Department Records Division at City Hall.
