The Liberty Middle School Dance Team recently won two first place trophies at the Universal Dance Association's State Competition in Birmingham.
The team earned top honors in the Junior High Pomp category, and then followed up with the winning performance in the Junior High Jazz division.
"The girls have been working especially hard for this competition," said Coach Cheryl Brown. "They performed very well at the competition. Their energy level was high and they danced very well."
Two team members took home trophies in the individual competition. Maddy Creekmore took first place in the Junior High division to NSYNC's Space Cowboy. Nancy Peters took home a third place trophy for her dance to Disney's Tiki Tiki Room.
Members of the dance team include Crissy Payne, Kristen Plant, Samantha Hardy, Carly James, Hannah Lewis, Tori Lowery, Nancy Peters, Maddy Creekmore, Hayley Hardy, Pauline Lewis, Casey Loscudo, Nina McKinney, Jennifer Pikul, Lauren Roberts, and Missy Ross. Cheryl Brown, Allison Miller and Carla Beardslee coach the team.
The team is now in Orlando competing in the Junior High Pom and Jazz categories.
