April 24 Chamber of Commerce The Madison Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly luncheon Thursday, April 24 at 11:30 a.m. at Dublin Park with Agent Kerry Straub as guest speaker. Tickets are $12. Call the chamber at 461-0518 for reservations.

April 26 St. John's Yard Sale St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Women's Club, will conduct its 16th annual Parish Yard Sale on Saturday, April 26 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the school gym at 1055 Hughes Road in Madison. Treasures from around the world can be found at this popular Madison community event. In addition to the yard sale, St. John's Youth and Singles Ministries will be selling breakfast, lunch and bake sale items. Donations for the sale can be brought to the school gym Tuesday, April 22, 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Thursday, April 24, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Friday, April 25, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Tax receipts will be provided. Volunteers can sign up to help in the church hall to help on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for pricing and sorting, and on Saturday after the sale for clean-up. Art on the Lake The 42nd annual Art on the Lake will be held April 26-27, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., in Guntersville at Carlisle Park Middle School on Sunset Drive. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children ages 6 and up, children ages 5 and under are free.
Plant Day Plant Day at the CASA Community Garden, 4725 Bob Wallace Ave., will be held Saturday, April 26 from 8:30-11 a.m. Volunteers will do a variety of chores, including planting the remainder of the summer crops. CASA is also seeking volunteers to help in the garden after Plant Day. To volunteer, call CASA at 880-0603 and ask for Amanda.
April 29 Chorale concert The Bob Jones High School Concert Chorale will present its spring concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, in the Edward Zompa Auditorium at the school. The chorale, directed by Randall Fields, will perform a variety of styles; the group will b joined by Discovery and Liberty Middle School choruses. Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for adults.
May 1 National Day of Prayer The National Day of Prayer will be held on Thursday, May 1. A Madison community gathering will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Gazebo in historic downtown Madison. Everyone is welcome to attend the event.
May 3 WalkAmerica WalkAmerica, a 5-K fun run and 6.2-mile walk fund raising event for the March of Dimes, will occur on Saturday, May 3. The fun begins at 9 a.m. at Heritage Plantation on County Line Road. There will be prizes, refreshments, a SuperSlide, face painting, a rubber ducky race, dancing and music. Registration begins at 8 a.m. There is a $15 minimum donation per entrant. Checks should be made payable to March of Dimes WalkAmerica. For more information, call 532-0500
Kentucky Derby Party Fundraiser The Providence Women's Club of Madison will have its annual Kentucky Derby Party Fundraiser on Saturday, May 3, at the Heritage Plantation Clubhouse on County Line Road. Proceeds will benefit the Madison Public Library and the Madison Fire Department. Corporate sponsorship is being sought now. The party will have celebrity horse races, a silent auction, door prizes, and refreshments. Tickets for the event will be available through club members. For more information, call 890-0798.
May 9 Golf Tourney Asbury United Methodist Church will host the Asbury Missions Golf Tournament on May 9 at Sunset Landing Golf Course on James Record Road at the Huntsville International Airport. Lunch and registration will at 12 p.m. and tee off will be at 1 p.m. The tournament will be a four-person scramble, $300 per team or $75 per individual, which includes fees and cart. May 17 Tennis center grand opening The Dublin Tennis Center grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, at Dublin Park in Madison, 8:30-10:30 a.m. There will be a free tennis carnival, which entails clinics and exhibitions, for ages three and up, Little Tennis for ages 3-5, Junior Clinic for ages 6-18 and Adult/Senior Clinic for ages 19 and up. Also, there will be Fast Serve contests for ages 10 and up, and Hit for Prizes for all ages. The event is sponsored by the City of Madison, SportsMed, S&V Sports, State Farm Insurance, YDA, Buffalo Rock-Pepsi, Publix, GTA, ProCourt Construction and USPTA. For more information, call 772-9300. In the event of rain, the grand opening will be rescheduled for Sunday, May 18, 1 p.m.-3 p.m.
June 9-13 Dyslexia program training session Greengate School will host a one-week dyslexia program training session on June 9-13 at Greengate School located at 6600 Old Madison Pike behind Sherwood Baptist Church. Orton-Gillingham trainer Cathy Rommell will teach from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on these dates.
