Mitch Freeman Madison County Record
Jennifer C. Fox, daughter of Janet and Stephen Fox of Madison has been granted a Fulbright scholarship. Fox earned this high honor as a result of her academic credentials, in addition to many other considerations.
Fox was graduated magna cum laude from The University of Alabama at Huntsville in 2001 with a degree in foreign language and international trade. She is currently studying at Tufts University in Boston, where she has a full scholarship and is in pursuit of a graduate degree. Following her graduation in May, she will be traveling to Germany to, "Teach English to high school students," Fox said.
"I'm really excited," the 26-year-old Fox said. She said the Fulbright scholarship will provide for her travel, insurance and a monthly wage. Her stint in Germany will be for one year, beginning in September. Fox said she had to write essays and obtain letters of recommendation as part of the application to land the scholarship.
This will not be the first exposure Fox has had to Germany. She spent her first year of graduate studies in Tuebingen, Germany. It has not yet been determined where in Germany Fox will be placed in September.
Fox's father said that she is quite a linguist who fancies German.
"She is a very gifted child that enjoys teaching."
He said he is affectionately known as the "pizza man" around Madison. "Nobody will know me by name," he said.
The Foxes moved to Madison from New Jersey.
