Leadership award granted
Shema Mbyirukira, son of James and Tella Mbyirukira of Madison, has received an Ernst &Young Summer Leadership Award at Birmingham-Southern College's 2003 Honors Day Convocation. The award, named after the national accounting firm and sponsored by the college's Division of Business and Graduate Programs, is designed to prepare students for interviews and a career in public accounting. Mbyirukira was also elected Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society. He is a junior computer science major.
Columbia College announces dean's list Columbia College has posted its early spring session dean's list. Students named from Madison are David J. Balwinski, Stephanie R. Bennett, Sheila D. Davis, Edna L. Holley, Douglas B. Morrell, Shane L. Pollard, Earnest Watkins and Lillian R. White.
Jacksonville State dean's list announced Jessica Nicole Boehme, Brandi A. Harper and Alexander A. Zotov were named to Jacksonville State University's president's list and dean's list for the spring 2003 semester.
Foster earns certificate Jessica Foster of Madison, a graduating senior at Maryville College, has recently completed the non-profit management program, which entitles her to an American Humanics Certificate. The certification is recognized by non-profit organizations, such as the American Red Cross. Foster graduated from Bob Jones High School in 1999. She is the daughter of Willie and Nancy Foster of Madison.
