Click it or ticket under way
State and local law enforcement are establishing hundreds of patrols and checkpoints statewide looking specifically for drivers and front-seat passengers who are not wearing seat belts, as well as children who are not properly restrained. The click it or ticket campaign runs through June 1. According to police, tickets will be issued immediately for those breaking seat belt and child restraint laws.
Art Ventures camp planned Art Ventures, a summer day camp, takes children 6-12 on a tour of the arts as they participate in sessions that cover drama, visual arts, music, movement and creative writing. The camp will take place July 7-18 at University Place Elementary School in Huntsville from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Each day, campers will participate in groups of 20 or less in 45-minute sessions. Stamp show honors rocket The Huntsville Philatelic Club will hold its annual stamp show "Huntspex 2003" May 31-June 1. Huntspex show hours are Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Bevill Center on the UAH campus. Admission is free. For more information, call Kathy Campbell at 881-0941.
Art classes offered The Huntsville Museum of Art's Museum Academy is offering summer art classes. Beginning June 2, classes for preschool-age children include: Preschool Art Sampler, Puppetry Art Fun, Art of Latin America and Drawing for Preschoolers.
Classes for students entering kindergarten through eighth grade include: Ceramic Parent/Child Classes, Fun With Fabric and Paper Batik, Arts and Traditions of Latin America and Clayworks.
Beginning June 5, classes for high school students and adults include: Pottery Basics, Hand-painted Tile, Hand-painted Glassware, Beginning Oil Painting, Beginning Drawing and Furniture Painting.
Several workshops will also be offered including: Wire and Bead Jewelry and Introduction to Calligraphy Techniques.

Cave tours scheduled Three Caves, a former limestone quarry located in the heart of Huntsville, is developing into a natural cave, offering a glimpse into a geological time window that few ever see. The Land Trust Huntsville and North Alabama will conduct Three Cave tours this summer. No admission is charged, but reservations are required.

Talent contest The Tennessee Valley Talent Competition will take place on Saturday, July 5 at the Huntsville Von Braun Center beginning at 5 p.m. Competition for cash, trophies and gift certificates will include dancing, singing, bands and acoustic solo artists. Age categories are 9-12, juniors; 13-15, teens; 16-19, seniors and 20 up, adults. A portion of the proceeds will go to Waiting Spouses, a local group of wives separated from their husbands who are on active military duty.
