Beautify your landscape The City of Madison Beautification Board is looking to judge your landscaping to determine if it measures up for inclusion on the beautification honor roll. The board takes business landscaping as well as subdivision entrances into consideration. Landscape design and maintenance are the key elements, according to board spokesperson Jeanne Steadman. If you would like to participate, call 461-8938. Deadline in mid May and judging will take place during June. There will be an awards luncheon in August.
June 6 Aquatic Park concert planned "Jackyl," will be in concert at the Madison Aquatic Park on Friday, June 6. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. Brings chairs or blankets for seating. Food and beverages will be available. To get to the park, turn east off Madison Blvd onto Intergraph Way. Take the first left and follow the street past the golf center. This event is a fundraiser for planning and preparation to building a museum in Madison for American Indian, Civil War and general history of the Tennessee Valley area. The museum will serve as an educational resource to the north Alabama schools.
June 9 Interior design lecture The Clay House Museum in Madison is hosting an afternoon tea and lecture on Monday, June 9. Jean Bryan, of Interior Market Place, will speak about interior design. The lecture begins at 1 p.m. and is followed by an afternoon tea party of sweets and savory tidbits. Reservations are required and seating is limited. Admission is $10. Dyslexia program training session Greengate School will host a one-week dyslexia program training session on June 9-13 at Greengate School, 6600 Old Madison Pike behind Sherwood Baptist Church. Orton-Gillingham trainer Cathy Rommell will teach from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on these dates. June 12 "Know Madison" lecture series The Clay House Museum will host a brown bag lecture series entitled "Know Madison" on June 12, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Bring your lunch and hear about the history of the Capt. June 21 St. John's blood drive St. John's Catholic Church on Hughes Road in Madison will hold its bimonthly blood drive on Saturday, June 21 from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. The blood drive will be held in the Knights of Columbus room, on the lower level of the school. June 26 'The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe' Tickets are now on sale for Madison Children's Theatre's production of C.S. Lewis' classic tale "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe." The play will be presented at the VBC Playhouse in Huntsville on June 26 and 27 at 7 p.m., and on June 28 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 for students and $10 for adults.
