Waits named to Sewanee dean's list Joshua Crocker Waits of Madison was recently named to the Sewanee College dean's list. Sewanee is a liberal arts college in Tennessee, also known as The University of the South.
Lasko earns master's degree Robin Lasko of Madison recently received a master of science degree from McDaniel College in Westminster, Md.
Dvorsky named to Marquette dean's list Michelle E. Dvorsky of Madison was recently named to Marquette University's dean's list. Marquette is a Catholic college located in Milwaukee, Wis.
Patel graduates from Boston University Shoil M. Patel of Madison recently graduated magna cum laude from Boston University with a bachelor of science degree in human physiology.
Local students named to UA dean's and president's lists The University of Alabama recently announced students named to the dean's list and president's list for the 2003 spring term. A grade point average of at least 3.5, on a 4.0 scale, qualifies students for the dean's list and a GPA of 4.0 qualifies students for the president's list.
Students from Madison named to the president's list are: Lindsey Carlson, Rachel Louise Cochran, Joshua Taylor Collins, Lauren Melissa Davidson, Pamela Hightower, Stephanie E. Nance, Robert Charles Shown, Amy Elizabeth Smith and Kristin Rene White.
Students from Madison named to the dean's list are: Michael G. Barwinczak, Charles Martin Carson, Meredith M. Davidson, Kelsey M. Dick, Krystyn Orlenda Dunn, Dana Reshaay Eason, Brooke Lanise Elliott, Bridget Nicole Geveden, Keeuntae Lashon Jackson, Kimberly Anne Jaynes, Scarlet Ann Martin, Sarah Louise Philyaw, Julie Paulette Pounders, Aaron Thomas Ryan, Kimberly Alexandra Straub, Alison L. Terry, Leslie Nicole Treece, Misti Dawn Waters, Brighid D. Wheeler, Tiffany T. Wilborn and Sarah Rose Zahorchak. Students from Harvest named to the dean's list are: Jamie E. Coston, Theresa Gaye Deacon, Brannon S. Flores, Justin Atwood Moore and Jennifer Lee Vaughn.
Hereford receives Slocum Fellowship Beth Joy Hereford of Madison recently received the John and Hester Slocum Fellowship to assist her in pursuing a master's degree in library and information science at Louisiana State University. She is the daughter of Donna and David Chamberlain and Sonnie Hereford of Madison. Hereford graduated from St. Bernard Preparatory School where she was on the honor roll, editor of the yearbook and captain of the volleyball, softball and basketball teams.
She graduated from Loyola University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education.
Johnson receives Chesser scholarship Sparkman High School graduate Adrienne Johnson has been awarded the 2003 Janet K Chesser Memorial Scholarship.
Johnson was selected for her essay on the topic "Why I Should Help My Community In The Effort to Prevent Drug Abuse – What I Can Do." This fall, Johnson will begin studying pre-med or biology at Fisk University. First awarded in 1998, this scholarship was established in memory of Janet K Chesser, program coordinator of D.O.N.T., Inc. (Drugs Offer No Tomorrow).
