Grant funds end year on a high note at city’s newest school

Representative Mac McCutcheon visited Mill Creek Elementary School recently and presented a $500 grant to the library on behalf of Allen King’s Eagle Scout project. In addition, he presented the principal, Melanie Barkley, with a $5000 grant to assist with other school needs.
While visiting, Rep. McCutcheon took time to speak with a group of sixth graders. He explained to them that even though they were not old enough to vote, they could still be involved in the government process. He encouraged them to call, write, and send emails to him and other leaders expressing their opinions. He also encouraged them to consider all the different candidates and their views during election time and decide how they if they could and why they would vote that way.
Rep. McCutcheon encouraged the students to get involved in their school and community as volunteers and explained that each of them could make a difference. He also wished them well as they completed their elementary school years and started middle school next year and encouraged each of them to visit him in Montgomery.
