Hannah Swager, a 10-year-old student at Mill Creek Elementary School, recently took home first place in the 9-10-year-olds girls division at the Pitch, Hit and Run Team Competition at Turner Field in Atlanta.

The Atlanta Braves’ Team Competition is the largest market in Major League Baseball, encompassing Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, and Swager’s first-place showing ranked her eighth in the nation.
Swager advanced to the Atlanta competition by winning the local contest at Mill Creek Elementary, and then the sectionals at Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville.
Swager practiced for the competition with her mother, Missy Swager, and her 13-year-old sister, Sarah Swager, a member of the Liberty Middle School Lady Lions’ softball team.
