Peggy Lyons Good; July 17, 2010

Peggy Lyons Good, a passionate mother, grandmother, wife and servant of Christ, died Friday at Huntsville Hospital after a brief illness. She became ill as a result of her passionate ministry and is now embraced in the loving arms of her creator, whom she believed in strongly. She was 56.Peggy and her husband Mike made their home in Madison. In addition to being survived by her husband, Peggy leaves behind two sons, Logan of Nashville and Kyle of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Maddox, Liam and Kenadee, in-bearing. Peggy is also survived by her mother, Carol Spiess Lyons of Madison; her stepmother, Barbara Lyons of San Antonio; her brother, David Lyons of Nashville; her sisters, Sharon Smith of Tampa and Colleen of San Antonio, Texas. Peggy was preceded in death by her father, David Francis Lyons, of San Antonio. Peggy was born in Brownsville, Texas. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1975, she began a long career in teaching. She was passionate and dedicated to her students, both home and abroad. She used her talents and skills in Christian ministry at Providence Classical School, throughout Huntsville and in Ghana, Africa. She loved traveling overseas to Denmark with her mother, and in recent years dedicated her summers to the Eugemont Orphanage in Ghana. She was involved in the Lincoln Village Ministries and contributed numerous articles on teaching tolerance in Northern Ireland for the Southern Poverty Law Center. Peggy and her husband are members of The Light, a Church of Christ which supported her work both in Huntsville and Ghana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Light and earmarked for the Eugemont Orphanage Fund. Contributions can be mailed to Mercer & Associates, 525 Madison St., Suite 100, Huntsville, AL 35801.A memorial service is planned for Aug. 7 at 2 p.m. at Monrovia Church of Christ, 595 Nance Road, Madison, AL 35757.
