Thomas Wayne Hart Sr.; Aug. 8, 2010

Thomas Wayne Hart Sr., 75, of Madison died Aug. 8, at his home.

A Korean War veteran, Mr. Hart served in the U.S. Air Force as a radar specialist stationed in Turkey. He worked for the U.S. Army as an electronics instructor and later as a logistics specialist on multiple missile systems at the Intergrated Materiel Management Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles R. and Hester Jewell Hart; two sisters, Ouida and Iris; and two brothers, Charles and Donald.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Ann; three children, Thomas Wayne Hart Jr. and wife Dianne, Cheryl Hart Smith and husband Jim and John Edward Hart; and two beloved grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Smith and William Mitchell Walker, all of Madison.

In his retirement, Mr. Hart enjoyed traveling with Betty Ann, spending time with their family, Auburn football and volunteering at United Cerebral Palsy. He was a dedicated husband, loving father, wonderful grandfather and true friend to many. The family loves and will remember him for his exceptional wit, devotion to family and kind character.

Visitation was from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 11, at Berryhill Funeral Home. The funeral service followed at 1 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial was in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Cerebral Palsy of Huntsville, 1856 Keats Drive, Huntsville, AL 35810.
