Francis Dougherty; Aug. 19, 2010

Francis D. Dougherty, 84, of Madison, devoted father and husband, passed away peacefully at Crestwood Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones.

He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Mr. Dougherty fought in the Pacific during World War II and the Korean War. He was very proud to have been on a recent Tennessee Valley Honor Flight. He worked for Exxon in New England for 30 years, retiring to South Carolina in 1979 and moving to Madison in 2009. Over the years, he and his wife, Lee, have worked steadily as volunteers for several charities.

He is survived by his wife, Lee Dougherty; daughter, Diane O’Callahan and her husband, Chris; son, David Dougherty and his wife Martha; brother, Paul Dougherty; and sisters, Olive Edmands, Iris Flynn and June Feeley.

Private services were held for his family at Madison Chapel.
