Police arrest Madison woman for shoplifting

Decatur police arrested Crystal Hamm Hill, 38, of Madison, after she attempted to steal from Belk on Monday, according to the Decatur Police Department.

Police said Hill exited Belk with handbags and wallets without paying, and Belk associates made contact with her as she was trying to enter a vehicle. Hill pushed the associates aside and tried to run away. She was taken into custody and no injuries were reported.

Hill was charged with second-degree theft of property, public intoxication and illegal possession of prescription medication.

She was booked into the Decatur City Jail and transferred to Morgan County Jail on a $3,500 bond.
