Play ball! Upward Flag Football registration open

From The Publisher

Are you ready for some football?

Not professional, college or high school football, but mighty tike flag football?

Yes, the most adorable football league in Madison, Upward Flag Football, has opened its registration for the summer.

Jeff Dickerson, of First Baptist Church Madison, is looking forward to another successful Upward Flag Football season in 2015.

First Baptist Church Madison and Dickerson lead this volunteer non-profit outreach league each year to offer an affordable athletic choice for elementary students during the summer break.

The league’s goal is to help build a stronger community through sports and ministry.

Upward Flag Football is expanding its outreach this year to include cheerleading, too.

Laura Densford is leading the cheer side of the 2015 program.

All students entering Kindergarten through seventh grade for the upcoming 2015-2016 School Year are welcome to participate.

Dickerson and Densford are also on the hunt for volunteer coaches, referees, and other supporting roles to help with this year’s six game season.

Volunteering for this league is a great way to get involved in Madison and to help create some special memories for our youth.

Dickerson and Densford are courageous to lead this community wide effort.

We should applaud them and the many other volunteers for the work dedicated to this program each year.

Organized sports are a terrific way to help children build self-confidence and sportsmanship.

The Madison Record and Madison County Record will be cheering on this year’s kids with game coverage.

We would like to encourage the parents and volunteers to contribute game photos to news@madisoncountyrecord.com for publication.

We wish all involved the best of luck this season!
