I am blessed to have never felt true hunger.

My family was able to provide me with more than my basic needs.

I am now able to provide those same comforts to my own family and others.

My church, First Baptist Church Madison, supports several Madison Elementary School families through their Food Pack Ministries.

In addition, Trinity Baptist, St. John the Baptist, Alabama Credit Union, Asbury United Methodist Church, Messiah Lutheran, and Crosswinds Church sponsor a Madison City School and provide Food Packs for children that receive free or reduced price meals at school.

These efforts help feed our kids during weekends, spring break, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and end of school.

John Peck, Madison City Schools Public Relations Manager, shared approximately one in four of our (Madison) students come from a poverty situation.

There is no greater calling in our community than to make sure these children do not go hungry.

The following Madison City Schools employees lead this heroic charge daily and should be recognized; Cindy Perry, Demetria Freeman, Patty Bill, Joy Barnes, Raley Fountain, Rebecca Thompson, Stephanie Allen, Kelle Moody, Karen Clayton, Bridgette Drummond, George Cruz, and Jasmine Green.

Jasmine Green, District Social Worker Madison City Schools, shared that Rainbow Elementary and Pre-K are in need of a Food Pack sponsor now.

Asbury UMC is currently assisting those programs until a new sponsor is found.

Matthew 25:35, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,” speaks best to this tremendous effort.
