Police warn of possible delays, temporary road closures for Saturday races

By Nick Sellers | Staff Writer

MADISON – The city of Madison once again has a June race event with the Madison Skedaddle – 5k and 10k treks on June 13 – and the Madison Police Department is hoping to inform the public on morning road closures on city roads to accommodate the runners.

Starting at 6:45 a.m., portions of major Madison roads, including Hughes Road, Mill Road, Brownsferry Road and Sullivan Street will be closed for the 10K race, which starts at Eastview Drive just north of Bob Jones High School at 7 a.m. and will circle around the heart of Madison.

The roads will remain closed for the 5K race, which is set to start after the 10K at 9 a.m.

The 5K race is scheduled to end around 11 a.m., at which time the roads will be reopened.

Both 5K and 10K will utilize Madison Pike eastbound and turn north on Crestview Drive until Eastview Drive. However, 10K runners will run down to Front Street and run back up to Church Street.

A full map of both race routes can be found here.
