MADISON- The athletic program at James Clemens High has taken a lead role on trying to involve the Madison community into its program by way of numerous promotional events. This current basketball season has included the Wendy’s $15,000 Shootout promotion where a fan in attendance is randomly chosen to shoot and make four shots on the basketball court within 24 seconds.

“The $15-thousand prize is available in each of the three dates we have set aside for the promotion,” said Rocky Smith athletic director at James Clemens. “Once the prize is won, the promotion will stop at that point.”

The basketball contest held its first of three dates on Dec. 5 when Janell Jagielski tried her chance at winning the loot. She made two of the four necessary baskets and was given parting gifts of Wendy’s 4 for $4 coupons, free Cineplanet 15 movie tickets and a bag of assorted Jets’ spirit gear.

According to contest rules, a contestant is chosen from those in attendance of the girls’ varsity game and during halftime of the boys’ contest shoot a series of four shots, which must be completed in 24 seconds. The event is videotaped per the rules and broadcast live as part of the school’s NFHS broadcast network.

The additional dates the winning prize will be up for grabs include Friday, Dec. 15 and Monday, Jan. 29.

Additional athletic promotions include launching the student led live broadcasts of sporting events through the NFHS Network, the James Clemens SKYMILES reward app and the Landers McLarty Chevrolet Perfect Kick Contest during home football games.

“All promotion/branding awareness is designed to generate excitement and fun around our home contests,” said Smith.
