MADISON- Amy Haddock will soon join her older sister, Mary, as part of the UAH lacrosse team after the James Clemens senior signed an athletic scholarship to join the Chargers for the 2018-2019 season.

“I chose UAH because the school has a good lacrosse team and a superb nursing program,” said Haddock, who carries a 3.7 grade point average in her senior year at James Clemens. “It was difficult to find a school that had those two positives aspects.”

Haddock, daughter of Stacey and Angie Haddock, began playing lacrosse seven years ago in the Huntsville Lacrosse Association and joined the Jet’s program as an eighth grader at Liberty Middle School. She scored 38 goals, had 28 groundballs, 30 draw controls and forced 27 turnovers for the Jets as a four-year starter and is currently a captain of the squad.

“While I was in the third grade I saw my cousin play lacrosse and I said I thought I liked the sport and I’ve loved it since the first time I played,” said Haddock.

Haddock is projected to play the attack position for the Chargers and will study nursing. At James Clemens, she joined the biomed program and those courses led her into the nursing program and this school year she is currently in the internship portion of the program and said she loves it. She has been a part of numerous school clubs and activities and has played on several travel lacrosse teams. In 2016 she was an All-State selection.

She is the third member of the Haddock family to participate in college athletics following Mary, a goalie in lacrosse at UAH, and a sister Stephanie who took her talents to UAB as a member of the cheer team. She is extremely proud of being able to follow her sisters’ footsteps and making a name for herself in college athletics.

“I wanted to stay close to home and having a chance to play with my sister again is a great opportunity,” added Haddock. “We played together for several years and it’s going to be really something special to be with her on the same team again.”
