Downtown Rescue Mission to host Fall Festival Oct. 26

HUNTSVILLE — The Downtown Rescue Mission will host its sixth annual Fall Festival Oct. 26 from 5-7 p.m. at the Downtown Rescue Mission.

Each year, this community outreach event grows, according to Tylor Jones, DRM’s director of media outreach. More than 1,000 people are expected to attend this year in the gymnasium of DRM. Booths from churches and organizations from across the city will have candy, games and more for the families to enjoy. On top of the fun activities, there will be inflatables for the children and free concessions for all guests.

Community partners like 88.1 WAY-FM and Chick-fil-A in Madison will be there, along with dressed mascots that will bring even more excitement and be available for photos. All community members are invited to attend. More information can be found on the Facebook event “Fall Festival 2018” or at the Downtown Rescue Mission page.

This is the start of our fall/winter community outreach efforts,” Jones said. “In weeks to come, we will give 800-1,000 turkey boxes to families for Thanksgiving and have sign-ups for toy bags for children whose family may not be able to afford Christmas presents. Everyone deserves to enjoy the holidays.”

Supporters that want to get involved with the Fall Festival event can donate candy at the DRM main campus or check out upcoming events, volunteer opportunities and make monetary donations online at downtownrescuemission.org.

Established in 1973, Downtown Rescue Mission is a faith-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit and does not accept any government funds. The Mission provides meals, safe shelter and clothing to those in need, as well as support and long-term assistance for those struggling with homelessness, addictions and other debilitating life problems.

The safe, family-friendly Fall Festival will be held at the Downtown Rescue Mission, located at 1400 Evangel Drive.
