Sylvia Ann (Collins) Cone

June 30, 2018

Sylvia Ann (Collins) Cone, of blessed memory, died June 30 in Falkville after an extended illness. She will be buried in her beloved hometown of Macon, Ga.
Mrs. Cone, the daughter of the late Adolph Dean Collins Sr. and the late Willie Ann (Burden) Collins, was born in Macon, Ga., April 2, 1935. In 1956 she married her beloved George “Mac” Cone, who preceded her in death in 2016 after 59 years of marriage.
She is survived by her daughter, Tina (Adam) Tarbox, of Madison; Reba “Delores” (Collins) Hodges of Forsyth, Ga., who is not just her sister but her lifelong best friend; grandchildren Xavier Tarbox of Macon and Mei-Ling Tarbox of Madison; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cone was preceded in death by her siblings: Victoria “Frances” (Collins) Willingham, of Macon; James Thomas “JT” Collins, of Macon; Bernard Arthell Collins, of Macon; Adolph Dean “Red” Collins Jr., of Bradenton, Fla.; George Payden Collins, of Macon; Lillian “Joyce” (Collins) Cannon, of Macon; and many aunts and uncles she cherished.
Mrs. Cone had a long journey with Alzheimer’s disease but also survived breast cancer in the midst of her illness. Despite her health conditions, she maintained a joyful spirit and always had a song and dance in her heart, even softly humming tunes until the last days of her life when words could no longer be formed.
She spent her final days in the loving hands of Comfort Care Hospice of Decatur.
The family is also grateful for the compassionate care over the years from Home Instead Senior Care both in Macon and Madison, Heritage Assisted Living in Madison, Madison Manor in Madison and Falkville Health & Rehab in Falkville.
After just over two years since their parting, Sylvia is back in the arms of her dear Mac.
