Butch Patrick of hit show ‘The Munsters’ to visit Madison today
MADISON — Fans of popular 1960s sitcom “The Munsters” may be excited to know that Butch Patrick, who played young werewolf Eddie Munster on the show, will be spending a few hours in Madison for a meet and greet with fans.
The meet and greet will take place at Nightmare Toys Dec. 4 from noon – 3 p.m.
“Come out and say hi,” Patrick said in a video posted to Facebook. “We’ve got a bunch of good stuff, and I’d love to meet you in person.”
Patrick’s wife, Leila Murray, said they tour the country “extensively,” sometimes with the Munster Koach and Dragula tribute cars that Patrick owns. Luckily, the pieces fell in place for Patrick to visit Madison this week.
“A fan had put us in contact with Nightmare Toys, and since it was in our route back to Florida, we called up Kristy [Adams, owner] at Nightmare and just decided to do a short-notice kind of meet and greet because there’s a ton of fans in the Alabama area that have been asking us, when are we coming back to Alabama? So, this kind of fit a lot of things,” Murray said.
She also noted that many tour dates come about because of fans that come across shops similar to Nightmare Toys that show an interest in “The Munsters.” Though Patrick’s stop in Madison will unfortunately not include either of the cars, he will be at the store to take photos with fans free of charge.
“He’ll also be signing autographs, and if people have memorabilia from ‘The Munsters’ or personal items to do with that show that they want autographed, they can bring them to the store and meet Eddie Munster,” Murray added.
Patrick is also known for his roles on the shows “The Real McCoys,” “My Three Sons” and “Lidsville.” These days, he continues to act on occasion.
