Local motocross racer wins regional Arenacross championships

MADISON – Madison’s Cael Bagby just reached another milestone in his young motocross career by earning three Regional titles in the NITRO Arenacross East Coast Championship. The 14-year-old motocross racer traveled the entire Southeast since last November, racing in 14 events. His success earned him championship titles in Supermini, 125CC, and Schoolboy age 12-17 classes.

“It’s been a great winter,” said Bagby. “The competition has been strong, the tracks were challenging, and we accomplished our goal of winning a title.” Bagby is currently an eighth-grader at Discovery Middle School. He has been competing in motocross since he was 4 years old and has won numerous races and championships in his career competing throughout the nation.

With the help of sponsors such as Race Ready Motorsports, Answer Racing, Bell Helmets, SPY Optics, Factory Connection Suspension and a host of others, Bagby continues to pursue his dreams.  “I want to take this as far as I can go with it,” Bagby said regarding his future racing goals.

Bagby experienced one setback at the final round of the series where he sustained a knee injury that will keep him out for the summer. “I’ll have to have surgery and take a little time off, but I’ll be ready for the Fall Nationals—count on it,” he stated.

Bagby credits the support of his parents, Steve and Kris Barnes, and his two sisters, Rylie and Kenley Bagby, for the sacrifices they make.
