HUNTSVILLE- Two-time Grammy Award winning duo of For King & Country is set to headline the annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Power Leadership Training (PTL) Party/Concert set for Aug. 2 and 3 at the Von Braun Center.

The two-day event will feature a training conference for students grades six through 12 and the concert on Aug. 2, which is open to the general public. Tickets to the concert are available at the VBC box office or by Ticketmaster with prices ranging from $30-$100 and can be purchased up until concert time. Sponsorships opportunities are also available. Registration for the student conference only is open through Saturday, July 20 at $125 per registration.

The conference portion of the event for the student-athletes includes meals, accommodations at UAH, which will include extra security from UAH, Huntsville Police Department and undercover agents, a bible for each attendee and ticket to the Friday night concert.

“This will be the best time ever for us, for sure,” said Ken Burnett, Director of Northeast Alabama FCA. “God has allowed us to have the best lineup possible and ticket sales for the concert are going well and those registrations for the conference are doing well, too.”

The 14^th annual PTL Party/Concert is open to student-athletes from North Alabama area schools who will attend the two-day conference in a team huddle type atmosphere at numerous designated spiritual gatherings. On Saturday, Aug. 3, inspirational speaker Ken Watson will be on hand to share his knowledge and experiences of overcoming life’s obstacles through his spiritual faith.

Watson caught the FCA vision in 1974 as a freshman football player at the University of Maryland. Since the connection, Watson has continued to be a huge part of FCA including his entire family involved with the organization in some manner. He spent two years on the FCA staff and heavily involved with youth and Christ, which transitioned him into seminary and eventually church planting. He speaks country-wide to FCA gatherings.

The concert portion of the event will feature the Australian brothers Joel, 34, and Luke, 32, Smallbone, who as For King & Country have been Grammy Award winners in Christian music. The duo is now based out of Nashville and their songs fit perfectly with today’s pop music arena and are finely crafted into the themes of religion, prayer and God.

In addition to For King & Country, the evening’s festivities will also feature Sadie Robertson, a reality TV star of the A&E Network hit show Duck Dynasty, daughter of Duck Commander Company CEO Willie Robertson and granddaughter of Phil Robertson, company founder. Plus, Anthem Lights, based in the Music City of Nashville, will also perform. The four-man group features Chad Graham, Caleb Grimm, Spencer Kane and Joey Stamper.

“On Saturday for the conference we’re also going to have a guest appearance by KB, a current hip-hop/Christian artist,” said Burnett. “For those possible attendees who need financial assistance to be able to attend, the FCA has scholarships available, but those interested need to contact FCA directly.”

Burnett added ticket sales for the Friday night concert is well into the thousands and he encouraged those wanting to attend to purchase their tickets as soon as possible.
