James Clemens’ Logan Morris Signs Baseball Scholarship With Alabama

MADISON- Logan Morris transferred to James Clemens High for his junior season from Sparkman High. The move along with his parents T.J. and Lynne Morris turned out as a good decision as Morris excelled in the classroom and as a member of the Jets baseball team.

He recently signed an athletic scholarship with the Alabama Crimson Tide where he’s expected to be a sure-fit right handed pitcher for the SEC program.

“I received my first offer from Alabama and I right away knew I wanted to go there,” said Morris, who will lead his senior class of Jets next spring. “I’ve been a longtime fan of Alabama and actually spoke with five other schools about the possibility of an offer.”

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Morris was 4-2 for the 20-17 Jets last season with a 4.000 ERA and 53 strikeouts over 35 innings. He batted .288 with 23 RBIs at 111 plate appearances.

Morris began playing baseball at age six and played years of travel baseball alongside Bob Jones star players and recent Alabama signees Dylan Ray and Caden Rose. He also played football and basketball as a youth growing up in the area. His last season of playing recreational basketball, his team finished runner-up losing to a championship game “buzzer-beater.”

His favorite memory of playing his favorite sport came when he was 12 years old. His team lost badly in a Friday night game but returned two days later only to win six games and the tournament championship. “I won the semi-final game on the mound,” said Morris.

He has posted a 92 miles per hour fastball, but claims his best pitch is his changeup.

Morris plans on studying nursing at Alabama.
