The 2020 version of the annual Cotton Row Run is scheduled for Memorial Day, Monday, May 25 in downtown Huntsville. A special 10-week training course called 5K or 10K Fast is now underway to assist those wishing to participate in the annual holiday event.

5K And 10K Training At Fleet Feet Sports

HUNTSVILLE- Regarded as one of the best 10K races in all of America, the annual Cotton Row Run is a mixture of novice and elite runners from all over the globe. To better prepare for the family-friendly sports event held in downtown Huntsville, Fleet Feet of Huntsville/Madison is hosting its “No Boundaries” 5K and 10K training program.

Kickoff for the program is Wednesday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m. with actual training dates beginning Wednesday, March 18 at 6:00 p.m. Meeting and starting points will be at Fleet Feet of Huntsville located on Carl T. Jones Drive in Southeast Huntsville.

The program schedule will feature training runs Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 7:00 a.m. Registration fee is $110. The program is open to anyone 14 years old or older. The training courses are for either the 5K or 10K races.

Tagged 5K Fast or 10K Fast, each program is for any runner looking to improve their times in either distance race by learning the proper race form all while working to cross the finish line faster and increase knowledge of running, which leads to the love of the sport. The program is designed to help keep an active lifestyle all while reaching a personal best.

The 10-week program will include a variety of training techniques from an array of experts and highly qualified trainers to help to improve speed, strength and running economy. A coach will be assigned to each runner and will mentor the workouts to carefully balance mileage and speed work to help any runner avoid injury and race their best.

Each participant will also receive a daily training schedule, education on proper form, pacing, fueling, stretching and more. A weekly newsletter will be available to each participant which will include a newsletter from a coach with tips, advice and the much needed motivation.

The ultimate goal of the program is correctly prepare for the Memorial Day race that has been in action since 1980. Workouts are geared for both of the races held in what has become one of the biggest sporting event days in North Alabama.
