Nominations open until Sept. 4 for Bob Jones Hall of Fame

MADISON – Bob Jones High School is accepting nominations for 2020 inductees into the Bob Jones Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame recognizes outstanding alumni who have sustained a high standard of excellence and significantly contributed to their fields of endeavor. In addition, the Hall of Fame can include persons who are not alumni but have made a significant contribution to Bob Jones with leadership, service or other area.

“These individuals in the Hall of Fame serve as role models for current and future Bob Jones High School students,” Assistant Principal Amy Thaxton said.

Honorees will be presented to the audience at the homecoming football game on Sept. 18 in Madison City Schools Stadium. In that game, the Bob Jones Patriots will face Florence High School at 7 p.m.

ALL CANDIDATES for Hall of Fame must meet specific prerequisites:

* Significant accomplishments and contributions while at post-secondary educational institutions, including degrees attained and fields of study.

* Professional background and work experiences.

* Impressive contributions to civic and community involvement.

* Other significant accomplishments including awards, honors, offices held and other achievements.

* Any combination of the preceding criteria.

To qualify as an ALUMNI CANDIDATE for Hall of Fame, the individual must have graduated from Bob Jones at least 10 years ago. The person must have had significant accomplishments and made contributions while a student in scholarship, service, leadership and/or athletics, Thaxton said.

To qualify as a SERVICE CANDIDATE, the individual must made contributed significantly to Bob Jones but not currently employed or affiliated with the school. A former employee must have worked for the school for 10 years minimum, must have retired from Bob Jones, be deceased or not employed by the school for 10 years minimum.
