Florence forfeits Oct. 2 football game against James Clemens

MADISON – The James Clemens Jets now has two teams forfeit their games against them in as many weeks. After three varsity football players from Florence High School tested positive for COVID-19, Florence City Schools said on Friday they will have to forfeit next week’s game against James Clemens. It was set to be an away game for the Jets on Oct. 2.

James Clemens’ opponent for tonight’s homecoming game, Lee High School, was forced to forfeit the game due to COVID-19 cases. The Jets will instead play Briarwood Christian at Madison City Stadium. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Across city, Bob Jones High Schools was forced to forfeit last week’s homecoming game against Florence and tonight’s game with Auburn. Nine Patriots were reported as testing positive for the coronavirus. They are expected to return to play Oct 1 against Sparkman at home. That game will pit the White brothers, coaches Leron and Kelvis, against each other. This is Kelvis White’s first season as head coach for Bob Jones, and Leron White’s third season leading the Sparkman Senators.
