Farmers to Families to distribute free food at Madison City Stadium on Monday
MADISON – The Farmers to Families food program is returning to Madison for families needing food assistance.
Daystar Church, in partnership with Madison City Schools and others, will be at Madison City Stadium Monday, Feb. 1. Distribution starts at 9:30 a.m. until supplies are gone.
The Farmers to Families food program is a $4 billion provision in the federal Cares Act. The program has the federal government purchasing food from U.S. farmers and giving it to families so it doesn’t go to waste.
Each food box for giveaway contains healthy perishable food products such as pre-cooked chicken or pork, dairy products, and assorted fruit and vegetables.
They are available to all families on a first come, first served basis. Families need not show any proof of need or identification.
Boxes will be available at Madison City Stadium, 211 Celtic Dr.
The Farmers to Families program will continue every Monday at 9:30 am at Madison City Stadium until the distributor in Alabama runs out of inventory, probably 3-4 weeks, according to Daystar.
