MADISON- Bob Jones super freshman baseball player Braden Booth continues to receive accolades for his outstanding first season as part of the Patriots’ teams as he has been chosen to play in the PBR Future Games. The invitation to be among the country’s elite comes on the heels of an eye-opening ninth grade season in 2021.

The one-of-a-kind event will feature the best uncommitted class of 2023 and select 2024 prospects chosen from a 40-state slate and Canada. The Future Games will take place July 28-31 at LakePoint in Emerson, Ga. The gathering is the premier summer scouting event with more than 300 college coaches in attendance.

“It’s an honor to play with some of the top players from across Alabama and it will be fun for sure,” said Booth during his preparations for the Future Games.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Booth went into the 2021 high school season rated No. 7 in Alabama among the class of 2024 by the PBR (Prep Baseball Report). During the season where the Pats were 26-20, Booth played in 28 varsity games with 10 hits and 8 RBIs at the plate. He had a .696 fielding percentage and was 2-1 on the mound. He posted 16 strikeouts in 14 innings of action.

Booth was selected for the Future Games as a third baseman and right handed pitcher. His prowess on the mound has included being clocked at 87 miles per hour. His pitch repertoire includes a change up, curve and slider. The one time football and hockey player, who selected baseball as his fulltime sport while at Discovery Middle School, began baseball at age four and made the 7-Under All-Star team as a third baseman/first baseman.

“I dream of playing college baseball and making it to the big leagues and play for my favorite team, the L.A. Dodgers,” said Booth. “I travel to Atlanta to see a Braves’ game when the Dodgers are playing.”

When asked to try and offer a self-description of his baseball talents, Booth said, “I have a really strong arm while I have quick hands for my infield play. I hit for a good average and I had the fastest time in the 60-yard dash among my grade.”

As a member of Team Alabama, Booth will play three games and be a part of a position-player showcase workout where he will run the 60s, take batting practice and be evaluated at his primary position. All on-field action will take place at LakePoint’s elite baseball facilities, which includes eight Major League-size fields that are surfaced entirely with synthetic turf.

Booth keeps a busy summer as he plays for the VBA Black Platinum 15-U team based in Huntsville. The squad has been on the road a good part of the 2021 summer and will make a stop in Atlanta for a tournament just prior to Booth’s appearance in the Future Games.

“I travel with my parents and sometimes my brother, Mikel, who plays for the Black Platinum 16U team and is also on the Bob Jones squad,” said Booth. “I’m looking forward to the four days at the Future Games.”
