Fireworks, festivals, crawfish and mullets on tap for 4th of July fun

The fun starts early this year with several events planned for Saturday, July 2

MADISON – Independence Day falls on a Monday this year, which means you can plan a WHOLE extended weekend of awesomely fun things to do to celebrate. There are many different activities to choose from. In fact, we’ve got a great list to help you out.

Madison’s Star Spangled Celebration
On Saturday, July 2, the city of Madison is hosting a patriotic extravaganza at Dublin Park. The event is free to attend and there will be inflatables, live music, food vendors, and fireworks to end the night. A free shuttle service starting at 4:30 p.m. will be provided to and from the Madison City Stadium for the event for parking. Everything kicks off at 5 p.m. and will the fireworks show will start at 9 p.m.

The Madison Parks and Recreation will also host a cornhole tournament and a pickleball tournament in conjunction with the festival. For more information about these competitions, click here or check out the Madison Parks and Recreation Facebook page.

Crawfish Festival & Fireworks Spectacular at Toyota Field
On Saturday, July 2, the Rocket City Trash Pandas will celebrate Independence Day weekend beginning with the Crawfish Festival at Toyota Field. Gates will open at 4 p.m. Guests can purchase crawfish from J&J Seafood and Bubba Luke’s on the day of the event.

Throughout the day, there will be live entertainment including music, performances, and contests including a crawfish eating contest. Activities include a Euro Bungee Trampoline, inflatable Moon Bounce, a Rascal Obstacle Course, putt putt, and yard games such as cornhole. At 9 p.m., a special fireworks show will end the night’s festivities.

Independence Day weekend will be capped off by Rocket City’s first home game on Monday, July 4 as they take on the Chattanooga Lookouts at 6:35 p.m. The Trash Pandas will wear special patriotic jerseys for the game, and an incredible fireworks spectacular will follow the game.

Fireworks and watermelon carving contest at MidCity District
MidCity District will be having a 4th of July weekend with a fireworks show on Saturday, July 2. It’s a free event that will have live music all weekend. It kicks off Friday evening (July 1) at The Camp with music, food and free family fun.

On Saturday, the doors of the Camp will open at 9 a.m. with Yoga at the High Point outdoor climbing wall and at 11 a.m. the live music performances start. Their first mullet and mustache contest begins at 8 p.m. and the fireworks will go off at 9:30 p.m.

The party continues Sunday, July 3, with a watermelon carving contest during the Market at MidCity. Bring your carved watermelon to The Camp on Sunday, July 3, by 1 p.m. (no carving on-site). The Camp team will take photos of the watermelons and post them online by 3 p.m. Online votes are tallied and winners will be announced on Tuesday, July 5, at 3 p.m., The winner will receive over $500 in prizes and gift cards.
