FCA To Host Leadership Conference With Special Guest The Casting Crowns

HUNTSVILLE- The party of the year is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 5 at the Concert Hall of the Von Braun Center in Huntsville. In conjunction with the two-day Power Leadership Training Conference (PLT) Aug. 5 and 6, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is hosting a party gathering to kick off what is known as one of the highlights of the year for FCA members and students in grades 6-12.

The PLT will feature guest speaker Tom Richter and musical entertainment by the Casting Crowns on Aug. 5 and conference special guest speaker Andy Mineo on Aug. 6. Also on hand will be the North Point Worship leaders.

The event begins with a gathering and dinner at the VBC East Hall. After an hour-long huddles session with the students and FCA leaders, the action goes to the Concert Hall for the evening’s highlight performance of Richter and the Casting Crowns.

The Casting Crowns were originally developed in 1999 near Daytona Beach, Fla. Youth pastor and lead singer Mark Hall established the Christian music group with band members who also work in the Christian based programs. Most of the band now resides in Georgia.

The group’s biggest hit song, Voice Of Truth, sat atop the Christian Music Charts for 14 consecutive weeks earning several Dove Awards. The group’s music has been described as “ministry of discipleship” and has sold over 10-million copies.

Once all conference attendees  get settled in their rooms at the Embassy Suites for a good night’s sleep, each will rise and shine Saturday morning for a quick exercise program and breakfast before heading back to the East Hall for the day’s extended team huddles of leadership worship and comradery throughout the day which will include lunch. Once the gatherings are complete, dinner will be served prior to the walk to the Mars Music Hall at the VBC for an inspirational meeting with Mineo, team huddles and the event-ending “concert of prayer.”

Attendees must register and purchase tickets for the two-day event by visiting the FCA at www.northalabamafca.org. Current registration cost is $150. Tickets and spaces are limited.
