Jets Shine At Chickasaw Cross Country

MOULTON- Stiff competition from Alabama, Tennessee and Florida, which featured 118 schools, was featured in the 2022 Chickasaw Trails Cross Country Invitational held at the Oakville Indian Mounds in Moulton. Among the elite group of schools were both James Clemens and Bob Jones.

The James Clemens Jets held up to the strong competition by placing fourth in the boys Large School Championship among 39 schools. The Lady Jets took an eighth place finish within their division host to 32 schools. Meanwhile, Bob Jones was ranked No. 18 in the girls and No. 22 among the boys action. In Boys, Beech High of Tennessee was the winner while Lawrence County took the title trophy in girls.

In boys, James Clemens was part of 271 runners in the large school division and were led by sophomore Luke Alverson who set a school record on the 5K course with a time of 15-minutes, 47-seconds which was good enough for a eighth place finish. He was followed by junior Cole Robinson at No. 13 with his personal best time of 16:04. Both Alverson and Robinson made the All-Elite Team. Additional Jets doing well included Garrett Gallagher (40, 16:34, PR), Dylan Dryer (43, 16:34) and John Luke Stovall (50, 16:45).

In the girls division among 228 runners, the Lady Jets placed two of the team members to the All-Elite Team. Kylie Gero, a sophomore, was No. 16 with a time of 19:26. Junior Emma Bothern was No. 21 with a 5K time of 19:43. Additional Jets taking to the event included Makenzie Parker (43, 20:17, Jr.), Ella Carter (60, 20:37, Fr.) and Kayla Willett (69, 20:50, Jr.).

The James Clemens junior varsity girls finished seventh out of 23 teams while the boys took eighth place among 29 teams. The Jr. High boys team of James Clemens posted a seventh place finish facing 26 teams in all.
