All-Region Football Teams For 2022 Named

MADISON- Being chosen among your peers as one of the best is always a personal goal for every high school football player. Those elite players able to achieve that goal in 2022 have been selected among the All-Region Teams as Bob Jones had 11 players, James Clemens eight and Sparkman nine in Class 7A, Region 4 and Madison Academy 12 players chosen including three top awards in Class 3A, Region 7.

For Bob Jones, the Patriots completed their season with a first-round playoff loss at 5-6 while scoring and allowing 30 points per game. First-Team All-Region selections included Jonathan Monroe (LB, 6-2, 190, Sr.) who led the team with 121 tackles, including 75 solos, Christian Kemp (DL, 6-2, 240, Sr.) who posted 73 tackles from his defensive line position, Maddox Sunderman (OL, 6-4, 290, Sr.) who was also chosen First-Team All-State on the offensive line, and Rayshawn Hardy (QB, 6-2, 200, Sr.) who at quarterback led the Patriots to average 30 points per game. He had 10 touchdowns passing and 16 scores rushing. He amassed over 3,000 yards of offense.

Second-Team selections for the Patriots included Caden Jones (DB, 6-0, 170, Sr.), Quenton Hubbard (WR, 5-11, 155, Sr.) and K.J. Fields (WR, 6-0, 185, Sr.). Honorable Mention choices were Tafari Alcine-Morgan (OL, 6-0, 280, Jr.), Myles Cook (DL, 6-3, 225, Jr.), Brandon White (DL, 6-4, 220, Jr.) and Tyren Washington (RB, 5-10, 230, Jr.).

James Clemens, 4-6 in 2022, had three players make the Region 4 First-Team selections- two from offense and one for the defense. All-State athlete Gio Lopez (QB, 6-1, 210, Sr.), who signed with South Alabama, was selected at quarterback. He’s joined on the First Team by Ty Doughty (WR, 5-9, 165, So.) and Jamal Mayers (DB, 5-10, 170, Sr.) on defense. Second Team Jets selected were juniors Nate Jennings (DE, 6-3, 236, Jr.) and Marc Woods (DB, 6-3, 170, Jr.). Jets chosen Honorable Mention include Reshaad Freeman (LB, 5-11, 207, So.), Stephen Ezell (LB, 5-10, 192, Sr.) and Jaylon Ruffin (LB, 5-11, 185, Jr.).

The 5-5 Sparkman Senators were spectacular on defense allowing just 19 points per opponent and were led by Malachi Jones (LB, Sr.) at linebacker, who recently participated in the annual North-South All-Star Classic and was chosen First-Team All-Region. He was joined on the First-Team by Josh Ward (QB, Jr.) and Matt Rozier (WR, Sr.). On the Second-Team, Sparkman was represented by Kaleob Onyeahialam (DL, Sr.) and Camren Watkins (LB, Sr.). The Senators had four make the Honorable Mention choices including Jalyn Chambers (DB, Jr.), Marvin Lee (OL, Sr.), Karmelo Montgomery (WR, Sr.) and Kamarion Starks (LB/S, Sr.).

In Class 3A, Madison Academy, which was a second-round playoff participant finishing the season at 9-3, had 12 players chosen All-Region, plus two additional players presented with Region top honors along with Bob Godsey named Coach of the Year. Lineman of the Year was Reese Baker (OL, Jr.), who was also selected First-Team All-State. Region 7 MVP was quarterback Carson Creehan (QB, Sr.) who led the Mustangs hitting on 68-percent of his passes for 2,714 yards, 25 touchdowns and just four interceptions as the Mustangs posted 47 points per game.

Region 7 First-Team selections for Madison Academy were Mario Brewer (Sr.), Ken Cherry (Jr.) who was also selected First-Team All-State, Broche Horton (Jr.), Daylen Johnson (Sr.), Jackson Reece (Jr.), A.J. Rice (So.), Matt Manley (Sr.) and Josh Williams a sophomore sensation who had 56 tackles with 38 assists and four interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns. Williams also had 705 yards on 89 carries as a running back while scoring 14 touchdowns.

Honorable Mention selections included Austin Chambers (Jr.), Hayden Knight (Sr.), Keaton Watson (So.) and Selano Thomas (So.).
