MADISON – An upcoming event at Madison Public Library will promote guidelines for appealing book clubs.

The Book Club Conference on Jan. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. will advise readers about starting or strengthening a group.

From 2 to 3 p.m., the “Meet the Author” segment will feature two local writers.

A “Wall Street Journal” Bestselling Author, Robert Bailey will discuss “Rich Blood,” his eighth book that explores the boozy and anything-for-money life of attorney Jason Rich.

Recently divorced, Rich has completed a stint in rehab. “His sister, Jana, is accused of her husband’s murder. . . Jason has mixed feelings about returning to Lake Guntersville, Alabama . . . Did Jana hire someone to kill her husband?” according to amazon.com.

The next author, Georgina Cross writes suspense thrillers. Cross will discuss, “The Niece,” which amazon.com describes as, “An absolutely gripping psychological thriller with jaw-dropping twists.”

In “The Niece,” Cross wrote, “Walking down an airport corridor, I see her. My mother’s sister . . . We have the same long, black hair and brown eyes. But my aunt is the one person in the world my mother told me never to trust. I start to wonder if she had something to do with the terrible fire that ripped my life apart.”

Then at 3 p.m., the conference’s focus shifts to “All About Book Clubs.” The library’s staff members will share information about coordinating a successful club.

* Bullet Journal – Discussion on journaling about reading.
