Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy’s conducts regional search to fill education director position

HUNTSVILLE – Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy (FPCTA), a leader in theatre for youth and theatre arts education in Alabama, is seeking a new education director.  The Huntsville-based group said the position is a senior-level staff position that reports directly to the executive director and works in tandem with the artistic director and with other administrative staff.

“This position is responsible for the development, execution, financial oversight, and evaluation of FPCTA’s theatre arts education programming offered to thousands of youth and adults in the greater Huntsville area and throughout Alabama and Tennessee,” stated a press release on Friday. “Performing arts and technical theatre education are the backbone of FPCTA’s mission and the education director plays a vital part of our success. The successful candidate will be responsible for attracting the area’s top teaching talent to execute all aspects of theatre arts training while growing FPCTA’s reputation of excellence as a workforce development and as a creative industries pipeline for tomorrow’s leaders. The education director should be a seasoned theatre arts educator and administrator with a management style that embraces collaboration. The education director leads a large education staff of teaching artists and contracted professionals. This position is charged with overseeing curriculum that will inspire student growth towards excellence and mastery of theatre arts.”

The release also stated the position shall be classified as full-time exempt for Fair Labor Standards Act purposes.  Annual salary commensurate with experience, depending on applicant’s credentials. Daytime, weekend, and evening hours may be required, depending on FPCTA’s programming calendar. FPCTA offers full-time employees health and dental benefits, a generous earned time off package, flexible work schedule, discounted programming for family members, including the opportunity to enroll children/grandchildren in daytime camp/class programming to offset child care needs.
