HUNTSVILLE – Huntsville Hospital Foundation’s 20th annual Liz Hurley Ribbon Run is expected to be one of the biggest and best races in the event’s history. More than 5,500 participants have already registered for the milestone celebration taking place on Saturday, October 21, through downtown Huntsville, and fewer than 1,000 spots remain.

For 20 years, Ribbon Run has provided North Alabama women with cutting-edge technology and equipment to screen and diagnose breast cancer earlier. Ribbon Run also invests in patient lives by providing Surviving and Thriving classes, so survivors have access to essential information and a powerful network of fellow survivors.

Proceeds from the 2023 Liz Hurley Ribbon Run will provide for the top-priority needs of not-for-profit Huntsville Hospital Breast Center, including an additional ultrasound machine and specialized ultrasound table. This new, high-tech equipment will reduce wait times so patients have access to the diagnostic screenings they need, detecting breast cancers earlier and more accurately.

The 20th annual Ribbon Run will kick off with the Survivors’ Walk at 8 a.m., giving race participants the opportunity to honor and cheer on participating breast cancer survivors. The 5K race will then begin at 8:30 a.m., with runner awards at 10 a.m.

Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Fund

WAFF 48 news anchor Liz Hurley established the Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Fund at Huntsville Hospital Foundation in 1999 following her own fight against breast cancer.
