VIP to host Charity Golf Tournament on Redstone Arsenal

HUNTSVILLE – The Veterans Initiative Program Inc. or VIP is hosting the first annual VIP Charity Golf Tournament.

The tournament will be held at the Links at Redstone Golf Course, 4140 Goss Road SW on May 16. Registration with breakfast will open at 8 a.m., followed by the shotgun start at 9 a.m.

CEO and Executive Director Kesia Nelson founded Veterans Initiative Program Inc. to focus on solutions as veterans reacclimate into civilian life and to help them change to better circumstances.

VIP, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, pursues its mission to provide shelter and support to veterans who are homeless or at-risk of losing his or her home. The company’s slogan is “Giving our veterans the ‘VIP’ treatment they deserve!”

The tournament’s format will be a two-person scramble. Awards will go to first, second and third place for men’s, mixed couples’ and women’s teams. Lunch will be served immediately following the event during the awards ceremony.

The fee is $135 per player, and registration will end on May 15. The proceeds from the first annual VIP Charity Golf Tournament will support the establishment of a much needed emergency shelter for veterans, Nelson said.

Private hole signs and sponsorship opportunities are available for purchase. Golf range, cart fee and green fees are included with registration.

To register online, visit vetsin.org, or call Jamaal Williams at 256-604-6393. Online ticket sales will end at noon on May 15.

A person’s registration serves as a ticket. After a person completes registration, the individual’s name will be listed, and a partner will be assigned, unless the registered player designates a preference.

If a person does not plan to attend, contact the host with the replacement player’s name at least five days before the event. If a player has a preferred golf partner, email the organizer or include his or her name in the notes section of the registration.

For more information, call 256-604-6393, email kesia@vetsin.org or visit vetsin.org.
