MADISON – Sometimes, a clever person can take a good situation and improve it to an even better scenario. Kristina Stundtner at Heritage Elementary School has accomplished that effort.

Stundtner has founded Harmony Club and will serve as director. She works as music teacher at Heritage and sponsors the Madison City Fifth-Grade Honor Choir.

Harmony Club takes a chorus and adds an extra punch with more creative options. This school organization is a musical performance group, like a choir. However, in Harmony Club the students will have opportunities to sing, move to the music and play instruments.

“The Harmony Club has the privilege of representing Heritage in several school and community performances,” Stundtner said. “We will perform concerts on campus on Dec. 12 and May 1, 2025, with classes attending during the day. In addition, parents and family can attend in the evening.”

Heritage Harmony Club also will book a few performances in the evening out in the community. Third-teacher Heather Newland is serving as the club’s Teacher Sponsor.

Acceptance into the group couldn’t be easier. Any student in fourth and fifth grade who likes to perform can join Heritage Harmony Club. “The first 50 students to turn in their forms will be accepted,” Stundtner said.

For rehearsals, Stundtner will call for practice times on Thursday afternoons after school and continuing until 4:15 p.m. “Our first rehearsal will be Thursday, Sept. 19,” she said.

Parents can pursue volunteer positions that are available for Harmony Club. “We are hoping to perform at a few different venues in Spring 2025, and we will be looking for chaperones,” Stundtner said.

In addition, Stundtner requests that any parent contact her who can play a musical instrument well. “Please let me know in the sign-up form, and we may ask you to sit in on a song!” she said.
