HUNTSVILLE – Huntsville International Airport and Carnegie Visual Arts Center are pleased to feature a new exhibit in the Airport Artway by native Iowan Margaret Dukeman. The installation will be celebrated with a reception and original live music by Sylvia Dean on Monday, Nov. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Artway, located on Level 2 of the Airport Terminal above Ticketing.

The airport’s microgallery is a collaboration with Carnegie Visual Arts Center in Decatur, and exhibits featuring regional and local artists rotate quarterly.

During the reception, gallery visitors will have the opportunity to chat with the artist, and Dukeman will speak about her own pieces inspired by her annual residencies in Ireland as well as her childhood in the wide open spaces of Iowa. In addition to Dukeman’s gallery show, pop art works by visual art students of Buckhorn High School will be shown in the Breezeway Community Artwall Gallery.

Sylvia Dean has been a part of the Huntsville music scene for many years as a member of Pinhook Bluegrass Band and 3WayHandshake Band. She performs in the singer-songwriter style and accompanies herself on guitar and violin. Dean has released two albums of original music.

Refreshments will be served, and the reception is free and open to the public. The first 30 minutes of airport parking is free.
