Bob Jones softball players earn post-season honors

After a successful season in which the Bob Jones High School softball team won 40 games, several Lady Patriot softball players have earned individual honors at the state and area levels.
Monica Ecklin and Jessica McKleroy were Birmingham News' All-State selections. Ecklin, a senior outfielder who batted .409 and set school records for hits and stolen bases, was named to the 6A and Super All-State Team.
McKleroy, a junior pitcher who struck out 309 batters and already holds several pitching records, was an Honorable Mention selection and was named to the North All Star Team that will play in Montgomery at the end of July.
Garnering area recognition for the Lady Patriots were Ecklin, McKleroy, Brook Bobrowski, Maya Cotton and Pam Hailey.
Ecklin and McKleroy were named to The Huntsville Times 6A and Super All Metro Teams for the second year in a row. Bobrowski and Cotton were named to the 6A All Metro Team. Bobrowski, a senior outfielder and designated hitter, led the team in home runs.
Cotton, the Lady Patriots' junior first baseman, batted .316 and led the team in fielding average.
Hailey, a senior second baseman with a fielding average of .962, was an All Metro Honorable Mention selection.
The Birmingham News also announced its All State Academic Team, which recognizes student athletes for superior performance in the classroom as well as their athletic accomplishments.
Selected from the Lady Patriots were Ecklin, Bobrowski, Hailey and Katherine Herring, a junior pitcher who had 15 victories.
