Residents of Madison will get the opportunity to find out the state of their hometown as Mayor Jan Wells prepares for the annual State of the City Address on Jan. 29.
The mayor, along with her aide, Michele Miller, are preparing for the address which will be held during a luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Madison City Hall.
"I'm really looking forward to delivering this address to the community this year. So much has happened here in Madison during the past year. We were able to get a lot of things accomplished in Madison that I will share with those attending."
The mayor will offer the status of Madison's progress in 2002 and reveal new opportunities available to the city in 2003. Also on Jan. 29, the mayor will hold a State of the City Town Hall meeting at 6 p.m. at Madison City Hall.
The luncheon is by invitation and there is a fee for the lunch. The 6 p.m. address is free of charge.
"The address is the most important communication tool the mayor has to convey information to the public," Miller said. "In addition, it affords those in attendance an opportunity to ask questions on issues which may not have been covered in the mayor's presentation. This type of interaction has great synergistic value to Madison, where resident's serve as partners in the city's future."
