Mill Creek raises $22K for heart association
MADISON – Work by students at Mill Creek Elementary School has resulted in an impressive donation to American Heart Association.
Mill Creek raised almost $22,000 for AHA. This year, Mill Creek collected the most money of all North Alabama schools that participated.
Principal Carmen Buchanan and assistant principal Karl Fernandez agreed to kiss a barnyard animal if students met the goal that teachers in the physical education department had set.
Holding true to their promise, Buchanan and Fernandez did ‘pucker up’ to kiss a chicken for each PE class on March 23. Coach Jennifer Klein and Coach Hodge led the fundraiser for AHA.
American Heart Association stands as the United States’ longest-working and largest voluntary organization that is committed to fight heart disease and stroke. Six cardiologists founded AHA in 1924. AHA now boasts more than 22.5 million volunteers and supporters.
